31/05 - 02/06/2019: Oswald-von-Wolkenstein ride
The Oswald-von-Wolkenstein ride is a spectacle consisting of a horse-riding tournament, folklore, history, culture, sports and dynamics. The celebrations run over three days, the riding tournaments take place on Sunday.
The event begins on Friday evening with a village fête in Fiè allo Sciliar with medieval tournaments, food and drink.
Saturday is the day of the big opening parade. The participating teams ride into the arena wearing their respective local village dress; Lords of the castle in medieval dress explain the individual games and the patrons of the event open the ride with a solemn ceremony. There are concerts, a medieval market, medieval tournaments and fire shows until the evening.
On Sunday the riding tournaments take place. In teams of four, riders demonstrate their speed, agility and horsemanship in four tournaments.
