Lago di Caldaro is the warmest swimming lake in the Alps. Surrounded by vineyards and watched over by Castelchiaro it tempts visitors to dive in for a swim from April to October. In spring and autumn temperatures reach 20°C, in the height of summer temperatures of up to 28°C make the hearts of water babies beat faster. Those who prefer swimming pools enjoy the Lido.

Pedal boating, windsurfing and sailing are among the popular activities on Lago di Caldaro. In the early afternoon a fresh wind blows across the lake. This is the Ora, which comes from the South and enables these fascinating wind sports. If you would like to try your hand on a sail, the surfing school Gretl am See makes it possible.

Walking in a Mediterranean environment, past vineyards, through woods and up to viewpoints and mountain tops: Caldaro offers hiking holidays for all preferences and levels of fitness. The Mendola funicular takes you up the local mountain Mendola funicular, Castelchiaro entices visitors on Monte di Mezzo, the peace trail through Castelvecchio woods brings inner peace and the wild romantic Rastenbachklamm is one of the highlights on hikes in Caldaro.

Gentle bike rides with the City Bike or eBike along vineyards, to wine villages and Lake Garda, with the racing bike on pass roads to the summits, and by mountain bike on forestry trails to pastures and viewpoints and then racing back down again. Caldaro al Lago is a varied biking region for every taste. Bike hire, bike friendly accommodation and guided biking tours complete the offer for holiday bikers.

The reed belt on the southern shore of Lago di Caldaro is a biotope and a nesting site for over 100 different and rare birds and bog dwellers. The region is the only larger habitat of its kind between Passo Resia and Verona and is located at the intersection of the most important flight paths of migrating birds. The best place for bird spotting is an observation tower and there is a nature discovery trail threading through the biotope.

The Rastenbach Gorge is an impressive natural monument. It runs from Castelvecchio down to Lago di Caldaro. Waterfalls and water basins, ivy covered trees, fallen tree trunks and rocks create a special ambience.

The spring valley is located on Monte di Mezzo between Lago di Caldaro and Laghi di Monticolo. In early spring anemone hepatica and spring snowflakes flourish here when warm air flows into the valley from the South while other regions are still covered in snow. The geographical name is Val di Fabiòn, but the term spring valley is more commonly used.
