Südtiroler Unterland_South Tyrolean Lowlands Kurtatsch Margreid Kurtinig_Cortaccia Magré Cortina
The wine villages of Kurtatsch, Margreid and Kurtinig on the Wine Road are famous for their sun and wine. Softly, they fit into the landscape. Characteristic style elements and enchanting details represent the southern influence: the archways and double arch windows, the loggias and oriels, as well as the crafty wrought-iron window grills and pub signs. The vineyards are touched by the warm light and atmosphere created by the cypress trees, the blooming oleander, fig and olive trees.
In the wine village of Kurtatsch a large amount of manor-like estates speak of wealth of the former aristocratic wine-growing generations. The highest vineyard in South Tyrol (1.050 metres) is part of the castle’s wine cellar Turmhof in Entiklar.
The Grafengasse in Margreid is home to the oldest dated grapevine in South Tyrol. It was planted in 1601 and today still produces about 80 kg of grapes.
Kurtinig on the Wine Road is the smallest village in the South Tyrolean Lowlands and invites at many comfortable walking and bicycle tours.
