Stately houses in Renaissance and Baroque style determine the most southern village of South Tyrol. It is situated at the Salurn defile, the German-Italian boundary. Numerous personalities such as Napoleon, Martin Luther, Albrecht Dürer and Ludwig Richter visited the area.
