South of Südtirol: our family-tips

Holiday time is family time – and the holiday region South of Südtirol offers lots to do for families.

A hole mountain for families

The Ritten mountain is a sunny high plateau just above Bozen and the place, where the traditional 'summer holidays' were invented. The beautiful landscape, healthy air and a lot of games and fun ideas make the Ritten for all generations to a holiday-paradise. Under the name Family hotels arise on the Ritten selected hotels, pensions and vacation homes, which offer custom-made holidays components from the child-fair equipment of the rooms up to generous playrooms and own child menus. Under the command of Pyramix, the Ritten Family mascot, it starts approximately from May till November three times the week with a mega children's program.
For more information please contact the Ritten tourist office.

Lamas and blonds

Fancy some trekking with lamas? It is possible at the Kaserhof on the Ritten mountain. Or do you prefer to be on tour with a blond? On the back of a soft, blond Haflinger hourse, riding lessons are particularly brilliant. Equestrian centres can be found in the equestrian village of Jenesien, in Mölten, in the Sarntal or on the Ritten mountain.

Legends on the Salten Plateau

On the Salten Plateau, heading from the Edelweiss hotel towards Lafenn (path 1/E5), you will find 12 legends that tell about Jenesien and its surroundings. The legends were written by 132 students of the Jenesien primary school.

Water rats

What about racing in a pedal boat – parents vs. Kids? Pedal boats are available at Lake Kaltern, where you can enjoy friendly water temperatures in May. At the Large Montiggl Lake, the kids can enjoy the longest water slide in South Tyrol

Knights, squires & Robin Hood

On the adventurous Eppan three-fortress-hiking trip, all large and small Robins can prove their accuracy in a Middle Age archery course. You can also examine two wonderful fortresses!

Tarzan & Jane

High climbing ropes translate into climbing, balancing, moving through a world of ropes, beams ans suspended bridges, which allows you to experience nature from a totally new perspective. You need to be on the ball, whether you find yourself on the adventure trail or the special children’s rout for 4 to 6 years olds. If you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, you can balance yourself through the newly built 'bare foot path': great training for your muscles on your tummy and back and the easiest possibility to massage the reflex zones on your feet.

Labyrinthos

The motto goes like this: 'Stay on the right path'. But what is the right path? They say: every road leads to Rome. But you don’t want to go to Rome, do you? Maybe the best way is to go right to the centre and straight out again. This should be easy enough, you say? Let's wait and see! Why not try it out – the first labyrinth garden of South Tyrol in Vilpian. For further information call Camping Ganthaler, Tel. +39 0471 678 716
