The Hay BathTraditional Hay Bath and Tub System The traditional hay bath should only be offered during the summer months, i.e. during the period of vegetation of the Alpine meadows, when fresh grass can be gathered from the meadows. After cutting, the dying grass is used for the hay bath, where the fermentation heats the grass.
In order to make a hay bath available throughout the year, a special tub system was developed. Heat is introduced from outside and the use of the hay has, therefore, a similar effect to the traditional hay bath.
Bathing process A person wanting to enjoy a hay bath is covered with warm, damp hay. He/she stays in this position for 20 to 30 minutes at a heat of more than 40 degrees. While perspiring, the body gets rid of accumulated metabolic residue and, at the same time, takes up many ingredients found in the mountain hay through the open pores. A relaxation period in a quiet room will follow, which lasts 30 to 60 minutes, where the person is covered in blankets.
The result is a fresh feeling and well-being for the rest of the day.
